Switzerland allocates US$521 million for solar tax rebates

The Swiss Federal Council has determined that it will allocate 470 million Swiss francs (approximately 521 million US dollars) for solar tax rebates in 2021. Among them, 270 million Swiss francs will be used for small solar systemswith a power of less than 100 kilowatts, and 200 million Swiss francs will be used for large-scale systems with a power of more than 100 kilowatts, accounting for about 20% of facility investment costs.

In addition, Switzerland will remove some legal barriers related to photovoltaic power generation. For example, from July 1, 2021, planning approval requirements for power generation systems connected to low-voltage distribution networks will be cancelled. This means thatsolar photovoltaic systemscan be deployed easier, cheaper, and faster. The approval process for restricted facility permits will also be simplified from July 1.

According to the latest data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (International Renewable Energy Agency), Switzerlands installed photovoltaic capacity at the end of last year was approximately 3.11GW.
