Backup power
Solar panels alone shut off in an outage. A battery keeps chosen circuits running: fridge, furnace blower, well pump, lights, Wi-Fi.
A home battery stores power from your panels or the grid and runs the circuits you choose when the grid goes down. In Connecticut it can also earn money while you wait for the next storm.

| Payment | Standard | Underserved community | Low income |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront incentive, per kWh of battery capacity | $30 | $30 | $30 |
| Yearly performance payment, per kW | $300 | $450 | $550 |
Homes on a Grid-Edge location qualify for a higher upfront incentive of $130 per kWh. Underserved and low-income rates do not stack. Performance payments depend on how your battery performs during peak events, and your review models them for your battery and location.
